Due to the increase of water disconnections for the reason of home owners traveling or properties being vacant, the policy on connection fees is changing. If you wish to have your utilities disconnected for your absence of 1 month or more, there will be a connection fee shown as CFEE on your utility bill.
A $25.00 CFEE will be charged upon physically shutting your water off at the curb, and again upon request to turn it back on, for a total of $50.00. This charge is to account for the time spent by maintenance to turn your water off, and any expenses related to the task of accessing or repairing water shut off valves due to this request. It also accounts office staff’s time adjusting the utility account.
A $10.00 CFEE will be charged upon requesting a shut off solely in our computer system, and again when we reinstate the utility charges, for a total of $20.00. This charge is to account for the time spent in the office making individual adjustments to utility accounts during the billing process.
Please note we require a meter reading the day the property is vacant, and another reading upon returning, to ensure no water has been used.
You will never be charged both fees, but only the fee that applies to the service requested. If you have questions about these changes, please call the Town Office at 306-452-3533. A copy of this notice was sent in the utility bills.
