Spring is finally here! With the warm weather we bring a few reminders.
As the snow fades away we would ask that you keep your property in the best possible shape. This includes: maintaining fences, trimming trees, keeping grass cut and bagging clippings as putting them on the street can plug sewer lines.
Please note that when completing any home projects you are responsible for removing all refuse/garbage from all interior and exterior work. You must dispose of ALL refuse yourself, as the Town Maintenance is no longer providing this courtesy. If you are hiring a contractor, they are responsible for removing the refuse. Hortness Enterprises is still open as a disposal site, or you may contact any service provider, including Loraas, to rent a temporary large bin.
Monday is Tree Day - this is the specific day maintenance goes around town to collect tree trimmings. Please be patient with trimmings if they are not collected promptly, as our men are very busy in the summer keeping up with grass and regular maintenance around town. Call the office and leave your address, and your trimmings will be added to their work list.
Disposal of Large Items - this courtesy remains unchanged. If you have a large item to dispose of, such as a washer, dryer, couch, etc. Call our office to arrange for the town men to pick it up. We will continue to dispose of these on your behalf, free of charge. We DO NOT collect refrigerators, freezers, or anything with freon.
Pet owners: please remember to be courteous to your neighbours and fellow residents. If your pet defecates somewhere other than your property, you are obligated to pick it up. Also, if your yard becomes a nuisance due to pet feces you are obligated to clean it up in a timely manner. Please ensure all dogs are tied up or contained within a fence. Failure to comply will result in a bylaw infraction. Our Animal Bylaw with associated fines is available for viewing at the Town Office.
Unkempt/Unsightly Yards: In the first quarter Utility Bill, sent out at the start of April, a notice was sent regarding the NEW policy on unkempt/unsightly yards. This information was also posted on both Facebook and the Town website. Please do your very best to keep your grass trimmed and weeds under control. Failure to do so will result in our maintenance intervening as well as a $100+ charge.
One more reminder regarding building permits:
- Decks over 100 square feet or over 2ft off the ground requires a building and development permit, which must be obtained BEFORE work starts.
