Save the Date: June 27-29, 2025
In 2024, the first Redvers Homecoming celebration was planned by the Town of Redvers in collaboration with Redvers Tourism, Redvers Public Library, Redvers Lions Club, Redvers Ag Society, Redvers Recreation Centre, Redvers Arts Council, Redvers Golf & Country Club, Redvers Fire Department, and numerous community volunteers. The weekend was a great success, taking place from June 29 – July 1, 2024.
Homecoming was born from an idea at our local Redvers Collaboration meetings. These meetings are open to organizations, businesses, and residents wishing to come together monthly, discuss upcoming events/projects, and see how we can all help one another. Homecoming was a perfect example of how collaboration of several different entities can produce a successful event for the entire community. Those looking to get involved in the community as a whole can join our next meeting at the Town Office (25 Railway Avenue, Redvers, SK) at during noon.

About Redvers Homecoming 2024
Our committee is thrilled with the success of our first ever Homecoming event. We wanted to try our best to gather our residents, past and present, and celebrate right here in Redvers.
Friday was our set-up day, where the committee set up tables for the trade show and ensured all organizations involved were ready as well. Slo-Pitch started Friday night and continued bright and early Saturday, and finished off Sunday. 14 teams were entered, and the Rec Director Nadine Pryde along with the Recreation Centre Board made the tournament run smoothly! Beer gardens ran from 1PM-1AM on Saturday and 1PM-8PM Sunday prior to the Quinton Blair show. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped out with the beer gardens and concessions! Food trucks and other vendors were on site and the ball and pool concessions were open both Saturday and Sunday.
Bedecs Ready Mix kept our kids entertained, lending us a giant pile of sand for the kids to play on! The Fire Department kept some mineral tubs filled for the kids, and Today’s Electronics provided sand and water toys for the whole weekend!
The swimming pool was buzzing with activity as the Rec Board had toonie swimming, helping keep the kids cool! The Library held two different events, one on Saturday morning, with a beautiful history display at their location downtown. This included bound Redvers Optimist Newspapers donated by the Gaudet family. On Sunday, the library put up a tent on the Tourism grounds for kids activities and information, as well as provided WIFI for the Town of Redvers tent and the Ball Concession.
Saturday started off with the Redvers Car & Motorcycle Show! This was the first time we have put on a Car Show, and it was a great learning experience! The participants gave us some awesome pointers so that we can grow bigger and better next year. We had over 60 entries and hundreds in attendance.
Redvers Tourism put up a bouncer for the weekend and provided a coloring station for the kids.
In the Rec Centre, our volunteer Wendy Luyten organized a trade show with many different vendors with all different crafts, creations, and products for sale. Downtown at the Golden Age Centre, the Redvers Arts Council held an Art Show & Sale! Visitors could sit to rest, enjoy a beverage, view the art, and then hop on the Town of Redvers Transit Van for a tour around Redvers on both Saturday and Sunday.
We held a Kids Mini Tractor Derby in the afternoon, with help from Raymond Lamotte, and the turn out was incredible! We handed out some prizes to our winners of the timed races as well as a tractor pull. We want to thank all the families who joined us! We learned a lot and hope to streamline the derby next year.
We were lucky to have booked Surround Sound Music owned by Kelly Leibel of Herbert, SK, who played music at the Ball Concession all day long, and went into the night as well for our Cabaret! The Redvers Fire Department lit up the sky with their annual fireworks show, and spectators were impressed with the display.
Sunday was a big day, and the 1st day of the Ranch Rodeo drew quite the crowd! Watching the teams, some who travelled quite a distance to be here, including a team from Thunder Bay, ON. All teams showed their skill in the arena and entertained the spectators! A ranch rodeo is a bit different from a traditional one, and it was enjoyed by all. Heading the organizing of this event was Channce Joanette, along with the Redvers Agricultural Society, and several community volunteers. A crowd favorite was when the teams had the horses pull them along on grain shovels in a race!
A fun event new to our community was introduced, and we are so excited that it was so well received! We called this a “Horse Race” and we had 8 volunteer racers give the crowd a show, running an obstacle course in giant inflatable horse costumes. Our volunteers were such good sports, we are thankful they were willing to participate! Our 2024 Horse Race Champion was Matthew Magotiaux, taking home the trophy and a winner’s hat. The event brought in $1,670.00 in bids for our horses, and the pot was split with the Bidder (50%), the racer (30%) and the Homecoming Committee (20%). This event drew a crowd of about 300 spectators!
Rising Phoenix put on a catered dinner on Sunday for those who bought advance tickets. We sold 130 tickets and the Ham & Scalloped Potato dinner was delicious. That same morning they also ran breakfast in the ball concession for our crowd!
Quinton Blair put on a live show in the Rec Centre, lasting well into the early hours of the morning! Quinton earned quite a few new fans in Redvers, as his performance was one for the books. Tickets were $15 each and a crowd of 260 people came to kick up their heels!
Monday morning most of the events had wrapped up. The Knights of Columbus continued their annual tradition of putting on a pancake breakfast on Canada Day morning! Following this, the official presentation of our new Hometown History Highway signs commenced, recognizing Christian Sutter, Jim Lewthwaite, and Howard Wright for their dedication to our community. Family members of each were present to say a few words to those who gathered. These signs were donated by Bill & Jan Murray, and once permanent placement is determined, Bedecs Ready Mix is donating a portion of the cement for the pilings.
The Redvers Fire Department continued their annual event of the Kids Fireman Rodeo! Several obstacles were set up inside the Rec Centre, the kids are given some fire gear and sent through the course with the help of department members. The kids look forward to this every year, and we are so thankful to the Fire Department for adding to the fun.
The Canada Day Parade in Redvers was a large success! The crowd enjoyed over 60 floats, including the RCMP, Ambulance, Fire Trucks, tractors both antique and new, classic cars, trucks, and semi’s who spoiled the kids watching with tons of candy. A new and exciting addition to the parade were dancers from Studio A, led by dance instructor and owner Amber Sylvestre. Dancers performed a routine to Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night Away” and amazed everyone with their skill! Everyone put forth so much effort with their decorations, making it a great show! Before the parade, Amber Sylvestre and Ayla Schwandt donated their time to do face painting as well.
The 2nd Day of the Ranch Rodeo kept the crowd in town a bit longer into the afternoon, after which it was time for everyone to travel home. The Truco Trick Riders, sponsored by the Redvers Rockets Field of Dreams, joined the Canada Day parade and then put on an opening act in the arena. The crowd was even larger than the day before!
Advantage Co-op generously donated a giant Canada Day Cake for any of our visitors to enjoy after the parade.
We were so fortunate to have many sponsors that made our weekend unbelievable!
